Description
Paola Colombo is a Certified Governance Officer and senior governance and business management professional with more than 20 years of international experience across corporate governance, executive leadership support, strategic transformation, innovation and digital banking.
Throughout her career, Paola has held senior positions of increasing responsibility within highly regulated international banking environments, combining expertise in corporate governance, regulatory and supervisory affairs, organisational transformation, strategic programme management and digital innovation.
In her most recent senior role, she supports executive leadership in Luxembourg as a strategic governance and business management partner, contributing to strategic initiatives, stakeholder engagement, organisational development and cross-functional coordination within an international and highly regulated environment.
Previously, Paola served as Senior Manager of Corporate & Supervisory Affairs at Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Luxembourg, where she acted as General Secretary to the Board of Directors and as a key liaison with the European Central Bank and the CSSF. She was responsible for governance initiatives, regulatory processes and institutional projects, while also contributing to ESG and CSR activities. Earlier, as Senior Manager of Organisation & PMO, she led organisational development, change management and strategic transformation initiatives, coordinating cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
Earlier in her career, Paola held senior positions in digital banking, product management and transformation within Intesa Sanpaolo and UniCredit. She contributed to the development of digital banking models, mobile banking, digital payments, wallets, internet banking and customer experience solutions, and was selected by Group leadership to join a dedicated executive task force contributing to Intesa Sanpaolo’s retail digital transformation strategy.
A strong advocate of responsible innovation and effective governance, Paola was awarded First Prize in the 2025 NEXUS Female Talent in Finance & Technology Programme for EXPLODORA, an AI-driven RegTech project addressing the requirements of the EU Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA). She was selected among 40 participants from more than 200 applicants.
Paola is an ILA Certified Governance Officer and an active volunteer member of the ILA Start-Up & Scale-Up Committee, contributing to governance initiatives supporting entrepreneurs and Luxembourg’s start-up ecosystem. Through her involvement with the Committee, she participates in Luxembourg Venture Days as a speaker, sharing her experience at the intersection of governance, innovation, technology and financial services.
Her professional development includes an MBA in Blockchain & Big Data from HEC Liège Luxembourg, an AI Certification from the University of Luxembourg, the Elements of AI programme from the University of Helsinki, and executive education at MIP – Politecnico di Milano. She is currently pursuing further executive education in Artificial Intelligence and the ILA Associate Director Certification.
Paola holds a Master’s Degree in Business Economics from LIUC – Università Carlo Cattaneo, graduated with honours (110/110 cum laude), officially recognised at Level 7 of the Luxembourg Qualifications Framework.
Her professional journey combines governance expertise, strategic thinking, innovation and business acumen, with a strong focus on integrity, responsible leadership, continuous learning and the ability to connect business, regulatory and technology perspectives across complex international environments.
