Description
David Zackenfels holds degrees in Law and German Law from King’s College London and a Master of Laws from Humboldt University in Berlin. After completing the Legal Practice Course at Oxford, he began his career in real estate banking and finance with a boutique New York advisory firm, later acquired by Accenture, where he ultimately headed the London office. His work included underwriting major European real estate transactions, arranging financing and supporting the securitisation of portfolios for leading European and US banks.
He later moved to the Netherlands to work for a Dutch bank before joining a leading Luxembourg law firm in 2010, where he specialised in investment funds.
David joined ALFI’s legal department in 2014. His work focuses on several areas of private assets, particularly hedge funds & liquid alternatives, real estate and infrastructure, including developments relating to ELTIF. He is responsible for ALFI’s work on pensions and fund governance and contributes to industry initiatives through the European Fund and Asset Management Association, Pensions Europe and the International Investment Funds Association.
David is a frequent speaker at industry and regulatory events, including conferences organised by the International Organization of Securities Commissions and the Financial Stability Board.
