Description

Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer at Aquark Technologies, a UK-based deep tech company pioneering next-generation quantum hardware. Alex leads the deployment of quantum sensor systems into challenging real-world environments, such as recent successful trials with the Royal Navy, and oversees operations, finance, and the implementation of Aquark’s strategic mission. Physicist by training, Alex holds a PhD in Optoelectronics, a Master’s in Experimental Research, and has received training from the European Space Agency. A recognised leader in the photonics community, he was named to the Photonics100 in 2024 and continues to serve as an active Optica Ambassador. Prior to cofounding Aquark Technologies, Alex has experienced working both at large multinational defence companies like Leonardo and innovative tech startup such as Lumenisity (acquired by Microsoft 2022). Through Aquark, Alex combines his passion for science and societal impact to build technology that doesn’t just push boundaries—but works where it matters most.
