Jean-François Leprince is Principal Advisor at the European Investment Bank (EIB), working with the team responsible for deploying the European Innovation Council’s venture capital fund. The EIC is an EU-funded initiative supporting start-ups and SMEs developing disruptive deep-tech innovations.
Previously, Jean-François was Head of Unit for Financial Instruments in Western Europe at EIB, overseeing SME investment and low-carbon/energy efficiency fund co-financing. From 2006 to 2016, he served as Senior Investment Manager at EIB, focusing on equity fund investments in emerging markets, following earlier roles at the European Investment Fund (EIF). His expertise spans venture capital from early-stage tech to growth capital.
Before joining EIF, he spent seven years in the VC industry with Galileo Partners and TechFund Europe in Paris, investing in ICT start-ups. He began his career in 1992 with the Orange Group as an international business development manager in the U.S. and France.
Jean-François holds an engineering degree from ENST (École Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications, Paris) and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley (United States).
